NYSP Investigating Savona Burglarly
New York State Police of Bath are investigating a burglary that occurred at a Savona home on County Route 12. State Police say between Tuesday and Thursday, people entered the residence, that was under construction, and stole property. Troopers urge anyone with further information about the burglary to contact them at 776-6866 or call 911.
State Grant Funds Local Libraries
A number of local libraries have received a bump in funding from a state grant. Libraries that are part of the Southern Tier Library System and Finger Lakes Library System received the state aid under the 2017-18 state budget increase of $5 million through the program. Dormann Library, Avoca Free Library, Cohocton Public Librar, Howard Public Library, Hornell Public Library, Addison Public Library,Prattsburgh Free Library, Wayland Public Library, Fred & Harriet Taylor Memorial Library, Savona Free Library, and Pulteney Public Library are each set to receive $2,500 of the funding while Arkport Reading Center will be getting $5,000.
Bath Man Arrested Following Stabbing
A Bath man was arrested after Bath Village Police responded to a report of stab wound on West Morris Street. Jacob Gavette, age 20 of Bath was arrested for second degree assault and sent to Steuben County Jail on $2,000. The stabbing victim was treated and released from Robert Packer Hospital.
Urbana Hosts Tom Reed Town Hall This Afternoon
Congressman Tom Reed is set to hold a town hall in Urbana today. The local politician first announced the town hall on his official Facebook page a few weeks ago. The American Legion will host the event that begins at 1:30pm today. Like many of the other town halls he’s held this year, healthcare is expected to be a hot topic of constituents as the president issues an executive order attempting to change healthcare this week. Reed posted a Facebook status yesterday supporting the president’s rollback of a 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran.
