Multiple Charges for Rathbone Man:


A 35-year old man is facing a half dozen felony and misdemeanor counts following an assault case in Rathbone. Bath-based State Police said Robert Wilson was charged with assault with a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon, both felony level crimes. He was also charged with preventing an emergency call, menacing with a weapon, criminal obstruction of breathing and unlawful imprisonment.



2 Steuben County Residents Heading to Texas to Help with Relief Efforts:


Volunteers from all over the country are headed to Texas to help with relief efforts as Hurricane Harvey continues to wreak havoc.  Among them are two Steuben County members of the Finger Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross: Lorraine Morris of Bath and Judy Coleman of Corning.  They’re among 14 Red Cross Volunteers from Western and Central New York heading west. 



McAllister Endorsed by Former Steuben Sheriff:


Steuben County Surrogate Court Judge candidate, Patrick McAllister of Wayland, has received the endorsement of former county Sheriff David Cole.  Cole retired as county sheriff in 2016 after more than 20 years in the department.  In a statement, he cited McAllister’s long years of service and “volumes of experience” as an attorney for children in hundreds of local Family Court cases.



Special Bath Board of Ed. Meeting:


A special meeting of the Board of Education of the Bath Central School District will be held tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the Superintendent’s Office.  The primary purpose of the meeting will be to finalize remaining personnel appointments prior to the start of the school year.

Before things start to get better in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, they’re expected to get worse in Texas.  Rivers in the eastern part of the state aren’t expected to crest until later this week, and federal officials are predicting that now Tropical Storm Harvey will drive 30,000 people into shelters and 450,000 victims will seek some sort of disaster assistance.  To help, you can donate to the American Red Cross by calling 1-800-Red-Cross or by texting the word Harvey to 90999 to make a $10 donation.  Or you can get a link and donate to the Salvation Army by texting Storm to 51555.   



Ride for the Red for Finger Lakes Chapter of American Red Cross:


The 9th Annual Ride for the Red to raise funds for the Finger Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross will be held on September 1st starting at Americas Best Value Inn in Painted Post at 5:30 p.m. and on September 2nd beginning at the American Legion in Big Flats at 9 a.m.  This year’s ride is in honor of local veterans and Gold Star families.  Cost is $25 per rider/passenger and includes a meal.  To make a donation, visit https://www.gofundme.com/ride-for-the-red.
