Crash on Gansvoort Street in Bath
A Bath woman escaped serious injury yesterday when the vehicle she was operating struck a tree and overturns on Gansevoort Street. Village police said they received the call shortly after 8 a.m. Investigators said 77-year-old Judith Killroy was northbound when her vehicle veered off the street impacting a tree. Police said no charges have been issued but the crash remains under investigation.

Cuomo Announces $10 Million To Watkins Glen on Race Weekend
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the Village of Watkins Glen will receive $10 million in funding and investments as the Southern Tier winner of the second round of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. The Mayor of Watkins Glen said he looks forward to a bustling downtown, new jobs and more visitors to the region while Assemblyman Phil Palmesano said, "This significant state investment will help the Village and all of Schuyler County move forward.”

Three County Meetings Slated for the Week of 08/07
This coming week will be a busy time for Steuben County government. On Monday, the Public Works and Public Safety & Corrections committees meet. On Tuesday, the Finance and Administration committees meet and on Wednesday, the Steuben County Land Bank Corporation will meet.

Prattsburgh to Consider Highway Superintendent Position
The Town of Prattsburgh will hold a special meeting on Monday night to consider setting a public hearing regarding the creation of an appointed position of Highway Superintendent and any other business. This special meeting will take place this Monday August 7th at 7:00 P.M. in the Town Hall, 19 North Main Street.

Dansville Woman Sentenced for Fraud
A Dansville will spend the next three years on probation. In court this week, 29-year-old Noelle Farmer was sentenced on her conviction to welfare fraud.

Dansville Woman Jailed for Probation Violation
30-year-old Jessica Cover of Dansville was sentenced to 1 year incarceration in the Livingston County Jail on a violation of probation. She appeared in court Tuesday.

Press Ponders Potential New York Candidates for Governor
Speculation has risen this week about possible candidates running for governor in 2018. The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that actress Cynthia Nixon has been sought by groups on the left to challenge Cuomo in the Democratic Party Primary. The actress and activist has held an active presence in Democratic politics yet has not confirmed whether or not she will pursue becoming governor. Earlier this week, Republican Syracuse area State Senator DeFrancisco expressed consideration to run in the 2018 race while announcing he will embark on a tour of the state.
