Wack a Weed, Build a Park with Curtiss Park Challenge:
If you own a weed wacker, have a little free time, and are over the age of 18, you could make a difference in the local community. The grounds of the Glenn H. Curtiss Park in Urbana could some TLC, and you and your weed wacker can help. The “Weed Wacker” Challenge, hosted by the Friends of Hammondsport Area Trails and Parks, Inc. to clean up the park will be 9 a.m. to noon on September 9th. Volunteers are needed as the terrain of the park is too rough to be mowed and the task is too much for one person. The event is BYOWW – Bring Your Own Weed Wacker – and keep in mind there are no electrical outlets available on site. Volunteers should also bring hearing and eye protection. Refreshments and hot dogs will be provided, and there will be an award for the “Best Wacker” at the end of the day.
