Cohocton Woman Injured in Italy Accident:


A 21-year-old Cohocton woman had to be airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester Sunday following a one-car accident on Italy Turnpike Road in the Town of Italy.  Authorities say Megan Cheasman was traveling east when she lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway, and collided with several trees.  The cause of the accident is under investigation.



Lindley Man Accused of Assaulting Child:


A Lindley man is facing felony assault charges after he allegedly choked and injured a two-year-old child.  According to State Police, 20-year-old Jacoby Sawyer was left in charge of two children as their parents went to a nearby grocery store and he intentionally choked and caused physical injury to one of the children.  He was charged with assault in the second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.  Sawyer was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. 



I-86 Work in Bath Starts Today:


Work is set to start today on deck repairs on I-86 eastbound in the Town of Bath, over State Route 415.  One lane will be closed to traffic – starting with the driving lane, and then switching to the passing lane, if necessary.  Traffic will be able to travel through the open lane with no speed reductions.  The closure is expected to last for approximately two weeks.



Crackdown on Speeding Drivers Starts Today:


A high-visibility enforcement crackdown throughout New York aimed at reducing speed-related crashes gets underway today with Speed Awareness Week.  The campaign runs until Tuesday with several local agencies participating.  Law enforcement will be focused on speeding violations, but they’ll also be on the lookout for red light violations, texting and cell phone violations, seat belt violations, and aggressive driving violations. 



Rathbone’s Hardscrabble Rd. Closed Next Week:


The Town of Rathbone Highway Superintendent has announced that Hardscrabble Road will be closed to all traffic on Monday and Tuesday to replace an existing pipe.  The road will be closed starting at the C.R. 81 intersection.  There will not be an onsite detour.
