33-year-old Accused of Sexually Abusing Child:


An investigation by the New York State Police and Steuben County Child Protectives has resulted in the arrest of a Troupsburg man.  33-year-old Brett Southard has been charged with course of sexual conduct against a child for allegedly engaging in sexual contact with a child under the age of 13 over a period of time.  Southard has been sent to the county jail.



Canisteo Man Charged in Livingston Co. Drug Stop:


A Steuben County man was one of two people arrested in a drug stop on 390 in Livingston County.  According to Sheriff Tom Dougherty, 29-year-old Nicholas O’Dell of Canisteo is accused of having four bags of heroin in his possession.  The driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Patrick Briggs of Wellsville, is accused of having seven bags of cocaine.  Both men were sent to the Livingston County Jail on $2,500 bail and $5,000 bail, respectively.



Hornby Woman Charged with Assaulting Ex with Car:


The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Town of Hornby woman following an investigation into a domestic incident in the Town of Lindley.  43-year-old Michelle Leonard was arrested late Sunday evening for allegedly assaulting her ex-boyfriend with her motor vehicle.  She was charged with assault and reckless endangerment.  She was arraigned and released on her own recognizance.



DWI Charge in Corning Accident:


The driver in a one car accident in the Town of Corning is facing a count of driving while intoxicated.  According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the area of County Route 41 in the early morning hours of Saturday for a vehicle that had struck the guiderail.  They determined that 22-year-old Margaret Graywyatt was intoxicated and she was issued uniform traffic tickets for the charges. 



Harassment Charge for Bradford Man in Domestic Incident:


A Town of Bradford man is facing a harassment charge following investigation by Steuben County deputies into a domestic incident on Whitehead Hill Road.  Over their investigation, deputies say they determined 30-year-old Kevin Babbitt to be the primary aggressor in the incident and he was issued an appearance ticket.



Corning Woman Charged with Violating Order of Protection:


A Corning woman was arrested on April 6th for allegedly violating an order of protection.  25-year-old Jocelyn Williams was charged with criminal contempt and was sent to the Steuben County Jail on $500 cash bail.



New Smoking Ban Set to Start Saturday:


Starting this Saturday, tobacco products will be banned within 15 feet of buildings and playgrounds that are managed by Steuben County, per a new policy set by the Southern Tier Tobacco Coalition and the County Public Health and Public Works Departments.  Birdseye Hollow Park, Kanakadea Park, and Hornellsville Park are a few of the locations that will be affected.



3K Run to Benefit Camp Good Days:


Hickory Hill Family Camping Resort has announced a 3K Color Run and Open House to benefit Camp Good Days on June 3rd.  With no winners or official times, the Color Run will celebrate healthiness and happiness, bringing the community together to create a three-kilometer colorful canvas in which the participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer.  Registration is open by calling 776-4345.  The Open House will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will include local vendors, swimming, mini-golf, and more.  A chicken bbq will be at 4 p.m.  Tickets are $12.
