Steuben County To Begin New Smoking Ban
Starting on April 22nd, all tobacco cannot be used with 15 feet of Steuben county buildings and playgrounds that are managed by the county thanks to the new policy created by the Southern Tier Tobacco Coalition and the County Public Health and Public Works Departments to make county parks tobacco-free. Public Works To Hold Residency Public Hearing
The residency requirements of the Steuben County Deputy Commissioner of Public Works will be the focus of a public hearing later this month. Those requirements are spelled out in a tentative local law. The hearing will be held April 24th, 10 a.m. in the legislative chambers of the county office in Bath.
DEC Announces Turkey Season, Youth Hunting Weekend
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is opening spring turkey season on May 1 in upstate New York. DEC's annual youth turkey hunting weekend is scheduled for April 22-23.
“Lookout” Accomplice in Clayton Trial To Be Sentenced
Marcus Blandford the “lookout” in the September 2015 Clayton murder will be sentenced. convicted on February 27. Blandford was in the vehicle accompanying convicted Beard the night of the murder and convicted on February 27 to a single count of second degree manslaughter for his testimony in the trial. Blandford is scheduled to be sentenced this Monday at 10am in Steuben County Court.
Steuben Public Urges Child Vaccinations
With National Infant Immunization Week set for April 22 – 29, Steuben County Public Health officials reminds parents giving babies the recommended immunizations by age two is the best way to protect them from 14 serious, and sometimes deadly, childhood diseases. Steuben Public Health participates in the Vaccines for Children and the Vaccines for Adults programs and has vaccines available for those who are uninsured or underinsured.
