Reed to Hold Town Halls Today
As announced earlier this month , Congressman Tom Reed will hold another series of Saturday town hall meetings today across the district. Reed is scheduled to start today at the Southside Community Center at 8am in Ithaca, followed by an appearance at Ovid Town Hall at 10:30am, then Manchester Town Hall in Clifton Springs at 12:30 and will end the day with an appearance at the Pulteney Fire Company at 3pm. Deputy Whip team and VP of Trump’s transition team, Reed has faced criticism from constituents with reports that his Geneva office was flooded with protesters yesterday. The Ithaca community has been notably critical of the Congressman with many local protests organized there.

 

NY To Expedite Professional Licenses For Military Spouses

New York state is offering expedited licensing for professionals holding out-of-state professional licenses in certain fields, including medical professions as well as out-of-state professional licenses that have requirements similar to those in New York state. . If you move because your military spouse transferred you will see a 50 percent break on application fees as part of this new legislation signed by the governor and proposed by the state education department.  

 

Corning Bridge To Be Repaired

Corning’s heavily used Bridge Street Bridge is set to be updated in the spring of 2019.The city received 6.6 million in state funds for the project, allowing the city to pay less than 2 percent of the funds it will take to rebuild the bridge. Corning’s bridge was erected in 1947 and 1999 was the last project invested into improving the bridge. The duration of time that the bridge will be closed to complete repairs is currently not known.
