Drug Press Conference Monday
The fight against drugs in Steuben County continues. Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker announced Friday that a special news conference will be held Monday regarding ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking in Steuben County. The press conference will be held in Bath in the Village Hall at 10:30am
RT 54A Repairs start Monday
Emergency wall and culvert repairs on State Route 54A are set to get underway on Monday. Motorists should be aware that the road at the primary site, located approximately 4.5 miles north of Hammondsport, will be closed for the duration of the work, which is expected to take between eight and ten weeks. During this time, traffic will be detoured on County Route 76 and Boyd Hill Road That project is expected last about 4 weeks.
Wings and Wheels Next weekend in Hammondsport
If you like cars and planes…next weekend is for you. It’s Wings and Wheels in Hammondsport. Formerly known as Seaplane Homecoming…the Keuka lake event features not only seaplanes, but a variety of classic cars as well. It’s the greatest land and air show in the Finger Lakes area according to organizers. The event will run 10 to 4 both days and WVIN will broadcast from the event on Saturday morning from 10am to noon.
Corning Cooperative 100th anniversary
With just a few days left, incentives have been added for early reservations for the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County centennial celebration “Denim and Diamonds” on Sept. 14. Event organizers say that those who make their reservations by Sunday will be entered into a drawing for two bottles of Bully Hill Wine, while those who reserve spots by Wednesday will be in a second drawing for two bottles of Bully Hill wine. The celebration honors farming as the leading historical, cultural and economic force in Steuben. The event also looks forward to progress on many fronts in the future. The event is set for 6 -11 p.m. next Friday at Pleasant Valley Winery in Hammondsport and will include a silent auction, a social hour, dining and dancing.
A Hot Summer
It turned out to be a really hot summer this year. According to the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration it was the fourth hottest summer on record in the United States. Temperatures average 73.5 degrees that’s 2.1 degrees above average. On another weather note the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Steuben County beginning at 2:00pm on Sunday and lasting until 8:0pm Monday. Heavy rains are expected during that period and 1-3 inches is possible.
